Discover Secret TMJ Exercises to Cure Your Pain

TMJ is a disease which causes dislocation between the upper and lower jaws. Little known TMJ exercises are very effective in reversing this condition. It suffices to note that the temporamandibular joint is the in-between link between the brain skull and the jaw. The reason behind disjointed jaws continues to be a subject under research. However, medical experts believe that continuous exposure of the jaws to snow could be the cradle of the problem. Teeth abrasion while someone is asleep has also been advanced as possible reason.

If you are attacked by this ailment you would experience intense pain especially when you try to open your mouth. More often than not, afflicted person would hear a popping sound whenever the mouth is opened and closed. The resulting pain spreads to the ear and the neck and occasionally felt throughout the entire back. This disease requires immediate medical attention because it progresses from mild to severe stage gradually.

Lack of immediate attention to TMJ may lead to secondary ailments such as arthritis. Try to avoid stress because it provides fertile ground for this disease to flourish. Hope is in the air though. Basic exercising can treat and sometimes eliminate TMJ completely. Although the exercises are seemingly simple, they must be undertaken with advice from your doctor.

Successful exercises, as outlined below would go a long way in alleviating the suffering from this malady. The procedure is outlined thus: Let your chin rest on your palm. Clench your fist to provide firm rest position for the chin and ensure enough pressure is exerted. Maintain the pressure while you open your mouth slowly. Repeat opening and closing of the mouth at intervals of ten seconds after each break. Should you notice increase in the popping sound, abandon the routine.

The second procedure requires you to put two of your fingers on your top of your lower teeth. Open wide your mouth as you so and press hard enough, but not as hard as to cause pain. Slowly and cautiously, open and close your mouth severally. Do it very slowly for at least ten minutes.

A much easier but effective one is to press the tip of your tongue against the ceiling of your upper mouth. Prior to opening your mouth, your tongue should already be in position. Open your mouth slowly and steadily. Return it to close again and continue the process without altering the position of the tongue. Repeat the show again and again several times.

Another alternative involves pressing your jaw from right and left sides with your fingers. Apply equivalent force on each side as if to align them using a clamp. Indeed it is meant to achieve alignment of the jaws. In as any times as possible, open and close the mouth. Should you feel pain, then you should terminate the exercise.

TMJ exercises are all relatively simple and can be executed effectively while at home. There are more complex routines which must be undertaken in the presence of a medical practitioner. These are cases meant for those with severe conditions. It is wise to always consult a doctor for relevant advice. You could do this prior to taking any medication. These exercises not only help to heal the ailment but assist in relaxing muscles on your face. Maintain care and discipline while you exercise though.
