How To Cure Acne Using Home Remedies

By Jocelyn Kinder

Curing acne isn't an exact science. What works for one person may not work for the next person. Should you go see a dermatologist or try home remedies for acne? Make an appointment with a dermatologist if acne is severe but if your skin isn't that bad, then consider trying a few home remedies. Many home remedies are just as effective as store bought products and some maybe even more effective. The following acne remedies work for many people and may work for you.

The type of fats you consume in your diet can have a large impact on your acne condition. There are healthy fats, which could help clear up your skin and unhealthy fats which could make your acne worse. Naturally eating unhealthy fats is not good for your health or body either. It's best to cut back on saturated fats such as meat and dairy products, and to cut hydrogenated fats as much as possible, as these are even worse. There are some healthy fats which may actually help heal your acne. These healthy fats include, flax seeds, olive oil, and fish oils. Aside from these, most oils, including commonly used vegetable oils, should be avoided as much as possible.

Lemon juice is a natural acne home remedy which may work wonders on your skin. Lemons work so well due to the L-ascorbic acid they contain. This substance cleans pores and fights off bacteria found in blemishes. Interestingly, L-ascorbic acid, if found in many popular acne products. You can get the same benefit of these expensive products by using a lemon! You can apply the lemon juice to your face with a cotton ball at night and rinse off your face in the morning. Fresh lemon juice is more powerful than store-bought lemon juice. You may, however, want to dilute it if you find pure lemon too acidic.

Many people think exposing acne to the sun will cure the blemishes but this isn't necessarily true. Acne may be less noticeable after laying out in the sun. This happens because your skin turns either darker or a little more reddish in tone. The acne isn't cured, it's just less obvious. On the other hand, laying out in the sun for too long, may cause skin irritation which will result in more breakouts. So too much sun may result in even worse acne breakouts! Then again, you shouldn't avoid the sun altogether because smaller doses of sunlight is healthy for your skin. Remember, there is not really any excuse to lay in the sunshine for hours on end with the hopes of curing acne because it will not work.

You won't have to live with acne breakouts forever. Keep looking of an acne solution until you find what works on your skin type. If you are lucky you will find an acne solution which works right away but if you don't, keep trying. Not all acne home remedies will work right away. Be sure to give each remedy a chance to heal your acne before you move onto the next remedy. Two weeks should be long enough to see an improvement in skin.
